Georgia’s 2024-2025 dove hunting season begins on September 7, offering hunters the chance to participate in the popular fall activity. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division encourages hunters to consider public dove fields, many of which have been carefully prepared to attract doves.
“Dove season kicks off the fall hunting season in Georgia and is a great opportunity to bring a new hunter with you into a field and get them excited about hunting,” said Kara Nitschke, Wildlife Biologist for the division.
The hunting dates for this season are September 7 to October 13, November 23 to December 1, and December 19 to January 31. Shooting hours statewide are from one-half hour before sunrise to sunset.
Hunters are encouraged to check the Dove Field Forecast for field conditions and participate in the Georgia DNR Dove Harvest Survey after hunting on public fields. Additionally, hunters are reminded to report any banded doves they harvest and ensure that any private fields they plan to use comply with legal standards.
Licenses are required for hunters 16 and older and can be purchased online, by phone, or at licensed vendors.
