As part of the project to widen McGinnis Ferry Road, the city of Alpharetta will exercise its powers of eminent domain on five residential properties in the city.

As part of the project to widen McGinnis Ferry Road, the city of Alpharetta will exercise its powers of eminent domain on five residential properties in the city.

The city is working with the city of Johns Creek and Forsyth County on the road project and will be acquiring the rights to portions of the properties needed for the road widening.

What is eminent domain?: Eminent domain refers to the right of a government to take, or authorize the taking of private property for public use but without the owner’s consent, provided just compensation is given to the owner.

The city council will vote on the eminent domain use at Monday night’s city council meeting. You can see the full agenda for the meeting here.

The Gwinnett Chamber and Council for Quality Growth will host Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson on March 3, 2022, for the annual State of the County Address, presented by Axis Companies and HNTB.

What: Gwinnett County Commission Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson will deliver an update on county services including economic development, revitalization, public safety, mobility, and infrastructure. Attendees will hear firsthand how the county is working to improve the overall quality of life for all Gwinnett citizens.

When and Where: Thursday, March 3 @ 8:30 AM, 12Stone Church – 1322 Buford Drive, Lawrenceville

Who: Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson, elected officials, and area business and community leaders.
