Georgia Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan announced today that his mother, Carole Duncan, died on Friday.
“Nothing can prepare you for the day you have to say goodbye to your mom. Yesterday was that day for me and it hurts so bad. She was my best friend growing up and never left my side,” Duncan said. “I’m sad, I’m heartbroken, but I’m grateful God made her my mom,” Duncan said in a social media post Saturday morning.
Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp sent his condolences just a few hours after Duncan’s announcement.
“Marty, the girls, and I join all of Georgia in mourning the loss of Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan’s mother, Carole, and extend our deepest condolences to the entire Duncan family. She will be missed by the many lives she touched over the years. We are thankful that she raised a son devoted to service and instilled within her family the same strong values that make our state and country great,” Kemp said.
