Gwinnett County woman killed in apartment fire

NORCROSS — Fire Investigators are working to determine the cause of a fire that claimed the life of a Gwinnett County woman on the 2100 block of Sarah Court in Norcross.

Two women were in the apartment at the time of the fire. One escaped unharmed and the other was found dead inside the apartment by firefighters during a primary search.

Crews were made aware of a person trapped inside and immediately began rescue efforts. There were heavy flames showing from the first and second floor of the building when firefighters arrived. The fire department is unable to release the name of the deceased victim or provide specific injury information due to Federal Patient Privacy Laws known as HIPAA.

The fire broke out just before 7 a.m. Saturday.
