The Hall County Board of Commissioners has approved the purchase of all-inclusive playground equipment for Laurel Park, expanding accessibility for children of all mobility levels. The 4,400-square-foot playground, designed by Playground Creations of Atlanta, will feature accessible surfaces, including bonded rubber mulch, making it wheelchair-friendly. Construction is set for the park’s existing playground area.
“An all-inclusive playground will be a great addition to our park inventory to ensure children of all mobility and ability levels have a safe and fun place to play,” said Brent Holloway, Director of Hall County Parks and Community Services.
The project, supported by the local nonprofit Hope For Hall, reflects the organization’s mission to normalize disability through play, education, and technology. “We have been encouraged by the heart of the Hall County Parks and Leisure department to create a space where every child, regardless of ability, feels a sense of belonging,” said Caroline Filchak, Hope For Hall’s founder.
The project budget is $334,395.50, funded through impact fees, with a tentative opening date around Memorial Day.
