Villa Rica High School will have new leadership next school year, with a familiar face taking over as principal and a new athletic director stepping in to replace a retiring coach.

What’s Happening: Rob Alford will become the next principal of Villa Rica High School. Sam Robison was named assistant principal and athletic director, replacing retiring athletic director Rick Sauls. The changes were approved by the Carroll County Board of Education on March 9.

Current Principal: Current principal Dr. Mike Bedosky is leaving at the end of the school year to become Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Student Achievement for Social Circle City Schools.

About the New Principal: Alford is coming home. He started his teaching career in Villa Rica in 1989 before moving to Temple High School and later Douglas County Schools in 1998. He has been an assistant principal and athletic director at Alexander High School since 2006. He holds degrees from the University of West Georgia and Jacksonville State University.

“I am thrilled to be returning to Villa Rica High School, where my educational journey began,” Alford said. “I look forward to serving alongside the amazing students, faculty, staff and community of Villa Rica. We are VR!”

About the New Athletic Director: Robison most recently served as an assistant principal at Bay Springs Middle School. Before that, he taught and coached at Calhoun High School, Bremen Middle School, and Bremen High School. He holds degrees from Shorter University, Western Governor’s University, and Kennesaw State University.

“I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to serve Villa Rica High School as Athletic Director,” Robison said. “I look forward to working with our coaches and athletes to build a culture that reflects the pride of this community and develops young people who compete with character, integrity, and purpose.”
