Richmond County students and families can mark their calendars for the opening of the new Belair Middle School.
The state-of-the-art facility, located at 150 Potential Way, will officially welcome students on Monday, Jan. 6, 2025.
The Transition Plan: To ensure a smooth move, the Richmond County School System has announced adjustments to the school calendar:
• December 19-20: Students will have Learn from Home days while staff relocate to the new building.
• Winter Break: Schools will be closed from Dec. 23 to January 2.
• January 3: Families are invited to an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. to explore the new facility and familiarize themselves with updated procedures for pickup and drop-off.
• January 6: Classes resume across all schools, including the new Belair Middle School.
Details on the New Facility: The new campus promises to offer advanced resources to enhance education while maintaining the students’ current schedules, teachers, and bus routes.
Superintendent’s Statement: Dr. Kenneth Bradshaw, Superintendent of Schools, shared his enthusiasm. “While Hurricane Helene set our schedule back, we were pleased to find there was no damage to the new school building. Now that we are back on track, we can focus on transitioning our community to the new building as smoothly as possible,” he said.
