The Magic Eastern Ensemble will present Journey Through Time: A Lunar New Year Celebration on January 25 at 7 p.m. at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center. The performance blends ancient and modern music, offering a cultural experience for all ages.
The concert features video projections inspired by Dunhuang murals, paired with traditional Asian instruments such as the guzheng, dizi, and zhongruan, as well as contemporary Western instruments like the violin and guitar. The performance will also incorporate a live DJ and Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) technology.
Yao Lu, the ensemble’s founder and music director, emphasized the event’s focus on cultural connection. “The Lunar New Year Concert is more than just a performance—it’s an invitation to experience the beauty of our integrated cultures firsthand,” Lu said. “The show is designed to spark curiosity and foster mutual understanding to build stronger, more inclusive communities.”
Founded in 2018, the Magic Eastern Ensemble combines traditional Chinese music with modern and Western influences.
The Lunar New Year, which begins January 29, is celebrated by more than two billion people worldwide. The 2025 zodiac animal, the Wood Snake, represents intuition, wisdom, and adaptability.
