The American Cancer Society and Atlanta Motor Speedway are offering race fans and all car enthusiasts a chance to drive onto the high banks of its historic 1.54-mile oval to benefit breast cancer patients and raise funds for research.
Laps For Hope, presented by Georgia Drives Chevy, will allow participants to drive their own vehicles onto the 24-degree banked turns and take laps up to 80 mph around the speedway behind the pink Chevrolet SS Making Strides Against Breast Cancer pace car.
Admission is $50 per vehicle for three laps around the track and a complimentary photo in the Winner’s Circle. Tickets can be purchased online prior to arriving at the facility by going to makingstrideswalk.org/atlantaga or can be purchased day-of at the gate.
The event is Friday, Oct. 9 beginning at 6:30 a.m. and will be held rain or shine.
Participants will enter at the main tunnel off Speedway Boulevard to have their tickets scanned and proceed into the speedway. To maintain social distancing guidelines during the event, participants are asked to remain in their vehicles while inside the facility.
This event supports the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. The annual fall walk was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. This event allows participants to safely celebrate breast cancer survivorship, remember loved ones lost while raising funds for research and patient programs.
