Two people are facing serious drug charges after Rabun County deputies found several ounces of methamphetamine during a traffic stop on Highway 15.

What Happened: Deputies pulled over a gray Ford Escape traveling north on Highway 15 on the night of October 10 after seeing the driver commit multiple traffic violations and drive erratically. During the stop, deputies smelled marijuana and saw drugs and drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle.
A search turned up 7 to 8 ounces of suspected methamphetamine, over an ounce of marijuana, ecstasy tablets, and drug paraphernalia.
Who Was Arrested: Robert Lawrence Taro Jr. from Atlanta was driving the vehicle. He faces charges of trafficking methamphetamine, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession and use of drug-related objects, driving while license revoked, and failure to maintain lane.
Annita Joyce Lewis from Franklin, North Carolina, was the passenger. She faces charges of trafficking methamphetamine and possession and use of drug-related objects.
Both were taken to the Rabun County Detention Center.
