Police Shooting in Brookhaven: What We Know

Brookhaven Police Officers received an alert about a stolen vehicle entering the city in the early morning hours Tuesday. Officers located the vehicle and initiated a pursuit. The chase resulted in a police shooting.

Police say the vehicle lost control and stopped near the intersection of Buford Highway and North Druid Hills Road.

According to the Brookhaven Police Department, four occupants of the vehicle fled on foot with officers in pursuit. One of the suspects, armed with a handgun, turned and faced an officer, prompting the officer to discharge his firearm.

The suspect was taken into custody without sustaining any injuries.

Two other suspects were apprehended by officers. The investigation into the officer-involved shooting is ongoing.

The suspects arrested were identified as Kenny Redding from Atlanta. He is charged with aggravated assault and obstruction. Another suspect, Dwoskin Wright, also from Atlanta, is charged with theft by receiving. Lastly, Atlanta resident Michael Briddy is charged with obstruction.

The fourth suspect escaped capture.
