A Kingsland man admitted to robbing two local stores after police questioned him following a traffic stop, the Kingsland Police Department said Tuesday.
What’s Happening: Shawn Keaton of Kingsland now faces two counts of robbery by intimidation — a charge that means he used threats, not physical force, to take property. He admitted to both crimes during a police interview March 31.
The Robberies: Both incidents happened in Kingsland within a two-week span:
- March 15 at approximately 7:56 p.m. at the Dollar General on Laurel Island Parkway
- March 30 at approximately 7:39 p.m. at Aden’s Convenience Store on West King Avenue
How It Unfolded: Camden County Sheriff’s deputies pulled over a vehicle that matched the description tied to the March 30 robbery. The driver was Keaton. He was arrested first on drug-related charges, then brought to the Kingsland Police Department for questioning. During that interview, he admitted to both store robberies, police say.
What’s Next: Keaton was taken to the Camden County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center. Police say the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible.
