A captain of the Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office was arrested by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for the alleged sexual assault of an inmate.
Thomas Earl “Buster” King, aged 57, turned himself in to the Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center after being charged with two counts of sexual contact with an employee or agent, as well as two counts of violation of oath of office.
The case originated on Friday, Dec. 16, when the Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office contacted the GBI regarding allegations that a Detention Officer Captain had sexually assaulted an inmate at the Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.
The GBI began an investigation and presented the case to a Wilkinson County Grand Jury on Monday, Feb. 27, Following the presentation of the facts, the Grand Jury issued a True Bill, leading to King’s arrest.
The GBI continues to conduct a thorough investigation, and upon completion, the case will be forwarded to the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
