The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has apprehended and charged former Jesup Fire Department Lieutenant Michael Baker Jr., age 35, with three counts of rape and one count of aggravated sodomy.
The arrest came after the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and Jesup Police Department alerted the GBI to a rape allegation made against Baker on Thursday, July 27.
According to the GBI, additional victims emerged, all claiming that Baker had incapacitated them by providing a drink, resulting in a state of unconsciousness. During this vulnerable period, Baker allegedly engaged in sexual activity with them.
In connection with the ongoing investigation, Baker opted to resign from his position at the Jesup Fire Department.
Following his arrest, Baker was booked at the Wayne County Jail pending further proceedings.
