A burglary in Brookhaven on the evening of August 15 quickly spiraled into violence, ending in a police shooting that left one suspect critically injured.
The Details: Officers from the Brookhaven Police Department responded to a burglary in progress at a home on Caldwell Road around 8 p.m. Upon receiving reports, officers learned that the situation had escalated, with gunfire exchanged between the suspects and a resident inside the home.
As officers arrived at the scene, they spotted the suspects fleeing in a vehicle, prompting a high-speed chase. The pursuit ended when the suspects’ vehicle crashed at the intersection of Chamblee Dunwoody Road and Peachtree Industrial Boulevard.
After the crash, police say an armed suspect confronted the officers. In response, an officer shot the suspect, who was critically injured and transported to a local hospital, where they remain in stable but critical condition.
