NORCROSS — A game of pickup basketball ended in gunshots at a Norcross park just after 1 a.m. Tuesday.

Gwinnett Police officers were dispatched to a “discharging firearms” call at Best Friend Park. Upon arrival, officers learned that a physical altercation occurred on the basketball court during a pickup basketball game between the victim and another man.

According to police, the victim got in his car to leave, and the man began shooting in his direction hitting his car.

The suspect was described as a Black male wearing a black T-shirt, black basketball shorts, and white and red basketball shoes. The suspect also had an orange highlight on the front of his hair parted to the side with a short black Afro twist.

Gwinnett Police, with the assistance of Norcross Police Department, arrested 24-year-old Eddie Crocket. Crocket is charged with terroristic threats and acts, aggravated assault, criminal damage to property 2nd degree, possession of firearm or knife during commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies, and reckless conduct.

Officers followed up with the investigation, collected surveillance video, and spoke with other parties of interest. During their investigation on the afternoon of June 28, officers saw a man matching the same description as the suspected shooter leave a room at the Hometown Studios in Norcross.

Police say they were able to identify Crocket as the shooter at the park. After a search warrant was executed in the hotel room, officers located a firearm, three magazines, and basketball shoes matching the description of those worn during the incident by the shooter.
