The Details: Authorities responded to a call shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday reporting a fire at a residence on Gainesway Trace. According to initial reports, Lee, armed with a knife, exited the home before retreating back inside. When officers from Gwinnett County’s Central Precinct arrived, heavy smoke and flames were engulfing the residence.

Officers attempted to communicate with Lee, who refused to leave the home. While the Gwinnett County Fire Department worked to control the fire, negotiators and mental health clinicians engaged in efforts to convince Lee to surrender peacefully.

The situation escalated, prompting the activation of the Gwinnett County SWAT team. After several hours of negotiation, Lee was taken into custody without further incident. Following his arrest, he was transported to a local hospital as a precaution.
