Two inmates were found hanging in their jail cells this week at the DeKalb County Jail.
According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, the deaths were unrelated incidents.
The two deaths make a total of four inmate deaths at the jail in the last month.
According to the sheriff’s office, 65-year-old Michael Assevero, of College Park, was found hanging in his jail cell and unresponsive on Sunday and was pronounced dead following unsuccessful emergency medical treatment by on-site inmate health services and DeKalb EMS.

Preliminary reports indicate suicide as the apparent cause of death.
Assevero was in custody of DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office since Aug. 11, after being arrested on a warrant for Failure to Appear in court on violation of the Georgia Rico Act. Authorities say the arrest took place while Assevero was hospitalized and in custody of another agency.
In another incident, sheriff’s officials say 27-year-old Viktor Ivanov Radunchev, of Snellville, was found hanging in his jail cell and unresponsive Tuesday and was pronounced dead following unsuccessful emergency medical treatment by on-site inmate health services and DeKalb EMS.
Preliminary reports also indicate suicide as the apparent cause of death.
Radunchev was in custody of the sheriff’s office since Aug. 13, following his arrest by another agency on charges of Simple Assault and Battery-Family Violence, which allegedly occurred on the same day at a business on Presidential Parkway in Atlanta.
Both incidents remain under investigation by the sheriff’s Office of Professional Standards.
In July, a Stone Mountain man died in his cell and a Decatur woman died in the jail’s infirmary.
