South Fulton is hosting a free document shredding and recycling event on Saturday, April 18, from 9 a.m. to noon at Trammell Crow Park, 4980 Cascade Road.
The event is organized by District 1 Councilwoman Dr. Catherine Rowell and Full Circle Electronics.
What’s happening: Residents can bring old documents for shredding, drop off electronics for recycling, and dispose of standard recyclable materials. The event runs three hours and is open to the public.
Electronics accepted: The event accepts a wide range of devices, including desktop computers, laptops, servers, cell phones, LCD monitors, hard drives, gaming consoles, televisions, CRT monitors, fax machines, Blu-ray players, VCRs, DVD players, stereos without wood casings, circuit boards, power supplies, lithium-ion batteries, car batteries, and more.
Standard recycling accepted: Aluminum cans, broken-down cardboard, mail and greeting cards, and clean recyclable containers with no food residue are also welcome.
What will not be accepted: Organizers will turn away non-empty aerosol cans, grass and yard debris, firearms or ammunition, bio-medical waste, engine parts, tires, paint, and compressed gas cylinders.
Document shredding events give residents a secure way to destroy personal paperwork, such as old bank statements, tax records, or mail containing personal information, without using a home shredder.
