Glynn County is building Fire Rescue Station 9, a new fire and emergency services facility near the intersection of U.S. 17 and Chapel Crossing Road.
What It Is: Station 9 will be a new fire and emergency services facility serving the U.S. 17 and Chapel Crossing Road corridor in Glynn County. The project was approved by the Glynn County Board of Commissioners and is now underway.
How It’s Paid For: The station is funded through SPLOST — Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax — a one-cent sales tax Georgia counties can use to pay for capital projects like buildings and infrastructure without raising property taxes.
The Location: Station 9 is being built near U.S. 17 and Chapel Crossing Road, a site chosen to improve emergency response times in the surrounding area. The station is also near the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers, a large federal training campus in Glynn County.
