Starting this month, Savannah families will see two of the city’s most popular parks get major playground upgrades.

What’s new at Daffin Park:

  • Construction kicks off in mid-September on the Daffin Park Signature Playground, one of the largest single investments under the city’s Recreation Re-Imagined initiative.
  • The playground, designed for kids ages 2–12, will be fully ADA accessible and feature seven themed play zones. Think: water play, climbing towers, swings, slides, and even a new splashpad and restrooms.
  • Construction is expected to take about four months.

What’s changing at Forsyth Park:

  • Crews are replacing the worn-down playground surface starting the first week of September.
  • The old rubber and wood fiber surfaces no longer meet safety standards, so they’ll be upgraded with expanded rubber surfacing and longer-lasting rubber mulch.
  • Work should wrap in about two weeks, but the playground will stay closed during that time.

The bigger picture:
Savannah’s Recreation Re-Imagined plan, approved in 2021, has already poured more than $4 million into upgrading parks and recreation spaces across the city. Officials say the goal is to make play areas safer, more inclusive, and more exciting for kids and families.
