Dunwoody day care owner arrested after death of infant

DUNWOODY -- A Dunwoody day care owner has been arrested and charged with Felony Murder and Cruelty to Children after an infant at the day care died Wednesday afternoon.

DUNWOODY — A Dunwoody day care owner has been arrested and charged with Felony Murder and Cruelty to Children after an infant at the day care died Wednesday afternoon.

Dunwoody Police officers and the DeKalb County Fire Department were dispatched to an unresponsive child at the Little Lovely day care on Leisure Lane in Dunwoody.

Officers arrived within minutes and began resuscitation efforts on the four-month-old infant. DeKalb County Paramedics arrived and transported the infant to an area hospital where the infant was later pronounced dead.

Dunwoody Police investigators arrested and charged 45-year-old Amanda Harris Hickey, the owner of the day care, with Felony Murder and Cruelty to Children on Friday.
