Valdosta police confirmed Sunday that reports of an active shooter at Valdosta Mall were false, following a heavy law enforcement response to the shopping center.

📱 What Happened: According to Valdosta Police Department, off-duty officers working at the mall were alerted to a possible fight near the food court. As officers detained those involved, social media posts and rumors began circulating about an active shooter situation.

🔍 Between the Lines: Police said they found “no evidence of an active shooter or gunshots being fired” at the mall. No injuries were reported during the incident, and authorities confirmed there was no active threat to shoppers.

👮 The Response: Police deployed “an extremely heavy presence of local law enforcement” to the mall, noting they “take all calls of active shooters seriously” and respond as if threats are real until determined otherwise.
