A Macon man was arrested following a shooting on Riverside Drive on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred at approximately 12:02 p.m. on August 15 when a verbal altercation between two men escalated into gunfire.

A Macon man was arrested following a shooting on Riverside Drive on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred at approximately 12:02 p.m. on August 15 when a verbal altercation between two men escalated into gunfire.

The Details: Witnesses reported that an argument between two men quickly turned violent, with one of them drawing a firearm and firing several shots. The intended target was not injured, and no bystanders were harmed. The shooter fled the scene before deputies arrived.

Law enforcement officers conducted a search of the surrounding area and located the suspect, identified as 42-year-old Zavier Markieth Ottman of Macon, at a residence on Hill Street. When deputies approached, Ottman attempted to flee but was promptly apprehended. After being taken to a medical facility for treatment, Ottman made another attempt to escape, which was again quickly thwarted by deputies.

By The Numbers: Ottman, who was already wanted in Bibb County on charges including four counts of aggravated assault and felony theft by taking auto, now faces additional charges of aggravated assault and felony escape. He is currently being held without bond at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.
