If you or someone you know lives in Cherokee County and needs a face mask, the county has them available for pick up at several locations.
The face masks are available for pick up Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the lobbies of each location. Supplies are limited to one pack per household and include five masks per pack.
County officials are reminding residents to wash masks before using them and to wash their hands frequently and social distance.

Cherokee County has seen a sharp rise in COVID-19 cases in the last week, which coincides with the start of in-person learning beginning in the schools.
According to data provided by the Georgia Department of Public Health, the 7-day average for COVID-19 cases in Cherokee County has shot up by 30 cases per day since the start of school. On August 4, the first day of school, the 7-day average of new cases reported was 50.8. On Sunday, that average had moved to 81.3 new cases per day.
Statewide, the 7-day average has actually decreased from August 4 to August 9. On August 4, the state had a 7-day average of 3,562 new cases per day. On Sunday that number had gone down slightly to 3,383 new cases per day.
