Dougherty County now has 455 confirmed cases of coronavirus. At yesterday’s noon status update, Dougherty had 267 cases. 18 people have died in Dougherty, making it the county in Georgia with the most coronavirus deaths.

Fulton County has 547 cases and 17 deaths.

According to health department officials, Dougherty County is a hotbed due to two highly attended funerals in Albany that acted as super-spreader events. Large gatherings in enclosed spaces are prime places for the virus to spread, which is why the state of Georgia has banned all gatherings of 10 or more people.

Statewide, 3,817 people have tested positive for coronavirus and 818 have been hospitalized. 108 people have died from the virus.

There have been 16,181 tests processed throughout Georgia.
