Are you ready for the 2022 North Georgia State Fair?

September is here, which means it is fair season in Georgia. The North Georgia State Fair will kickoff Sept. 22 in Cobb County.

As the largest fair in metro Atlanta, the North Georgia State Fair, presented by Superior Plumbing attracts more than 350,000 people every year from north Georgia and neighboring states.

The fair features live music, a variety of free attractions including world-class ground acts from around the globe, two petting barns featuring barnyard and exotic animals, flower shows, blue ribbon competitions for handmade goods and items, fruits, vegetables and artwork of all kinds, local entertainment, and fair foods including traditional fair foods as well as lots of unexpected specialty delights.

The family-owned and operated Great James H. Drew Exposition Midway, one of the largest carnival midways in the United States, offers a wide assortment of carnival games, entertainment, and exciting rides for thrill-seekers of all ages, including the Wildcat Rollercoaster, the Georgia Mountain Lift and the Mega Slide.

The fair runs from Sept. 22 through Oct. 2, Monday through Thursday, 4 to 11 p.m., Fridays the hours are 4 p.m. to midnight, on Saturdays the fair runs from 10 a.m. to midnight, and Sundays the hours of operation are 12:30 to 10 p.m..

A covered arena ensures concerts will go on rain or shine. Concerts include appearances by country and contemporary Christian artists. Showcasing the Carriage Kia Concert Series this year are:

  • Friday, Sept. 23 – The Afters 
  • Saturday, Sept. 24 – LOCASH  
  • Wednesday, Sept. 28 – Josh Turner
  • Thursday, Sept.29 – Corey Smith
  • Friday, Sept. 30 – Michael Ray
  • New in 2022: The American Bull Riders Tour Saturday, Oct. 1 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 2 at 6 p.m.

Concerts are free with fair admission.

New policies for 2022: The Fair will be implementing a new youth attendance policy and a clear bag policy. These new policies are in line with other events and establishments and are designed to ensure a family-friendly environment for all our patrons.

  • Youth Attendance Policy:
    After 6 p.m each day, no individual under the age of 17 will be allowed admission without a parent.
  • Clear Bag Policy:
    Clear Bags may not exceed 12”x6”x12”. One-gallon resealable clear plastic freezer bags and small clutch purses no larger than 4.5”x 6.5” are also permitted.
  • Gate Entry Policy:
    No fair entry Sunday through Thursday after 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday after 10 p.m.

Prices: Gate Admission is $10. Children 10 and under enter free. Ride tickets are $1.25 each, $20.00 for 21 tickets, $50.00 for 55 tickets and $100 for 120 tickets. All rides require more than one ticket. Parking is $5.

ATM machines are located on the midway. Online advance discount tickets can be purchased for $7.00, with children 10 and under free.

A book of 21 ride tickets can be purchased for $11.00, a 50% discount, through Sept. 21. Visit the fair’s website for information, daily specials and discount tickets.
