Two men have been injured and one man is dead after an early morning shooting in Waynesboro.
The Waynesboro Police Department and the Burke County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 700 block of Dowell Ave. at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday in reference to a shots fired call.
Additional reports received indicated that a person on scene had possibly been shot. Investigation efforts have revealed at this point that one man is dead, a second man was shot, received life threatening injuries and is currently undergoing medical treatment at Augusta University Hospital.
A third man was also injured by gun fire but injuries are non-life-threatening.
The Waynesboro Police Department is the primary investigating agency for this incident and Burke County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division is assisting.
