Georgia man arrested after violent domestic disturbance leaves woman dead

The Gordon County Sheriff’s Office reports that a violent domestic disturbance in Fairmount led to the stabbing death of a woman Sunday night.

According to the sheriff’s office, police were dispatched to a private residence on Scott Brown Road in Fairmount in response to a report of a violent domestic disturbance at about 9:50 p.m.

Upon arrival, a Fairmount police officer found a woman outside who had suffered multiple stab wounds. An ambulance was summoned and transported the gravely injured woman to the hospital where she later was pronounced dead.

Police arrested a man, subsequently identified as 36-year-old Patrick H. O’Ree, of Fairmount, at the scene.

“A neighbor had intervened in the assault, and held O’Ree for a short time until the police arrived,” Sheriff Mitch Ralston said.

The investigation was turned over to the Sheriff’s Office and detectives are collecting evidence and statements. Ralston said no one else is believed to have been involved in this event and no suspects are at large.
