A 36-year-old has died from injuries sustained after a collision with a logging truck in Bibb County.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the traffic collision, which occurred on Eisenhower Parkway at the intersection of Key Street at 7:04 a.m. Tuesday.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Department, 36-year-old Jeffery King was driving an SUV east on Eisenhower Parkway. A logging truck also traveling east, was stopped at the intersection and as the light turned green the logging truck began to move through the intersection as King ran into the back of the logs that were loaded on the back of the truck.

Sheriff’s officials say the logging truck continued to drive away, and it appears the driver of the logging truck was unaware that an accident occurred.

King was taken to the Navicent Health Medical Center and was listed in critical condition. Just after 3 p.m. the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office was notified that King had died from his injuries. The next of kin has been notified.

The traffic incident is currently under investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the Bibb Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500.
