One dead after shooting at Thirsty Turtle in Macon

MACON — One woman is dead after six people were shot outside the Thirsty Turtle in Macon early Friday morning.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call of shots fired outside the Thirsty Turtle at 425 Cherry Street at 2:47 a.m. Friday.

Once on scene deputies were advised that there was also a report of two men who were cut and this also occurred at Thirsty Turtle.

According to the Sheriff’s Department someone drove down Cherry Street and begin firing at the people standing outside of Thirsty Turtle and continued firing at people at the intersection of Cherry and Third Street.

During the incident, a total of six people were shot, four women and two men. Three victims suffering from gunshot wounds were taken to the Navicent Health Center from the scene by ambulance. The other five victims, three of whom were suffering from gunshot wounds and two men suffering from stab wounds were taken to the Navicent Health Center by personal vehicles.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation.

One woman from the incident was later pronounced dead at the hospital. One woman is in surgery with life threatening injuries. The other victims related to this incident are listed to be in stable condition.

Sheriff’s officials say victim information will be released once next of kin has been notified. There is no description of the suspect at this time.
