A pedestrian crash involving a 12-year-old boy and a vehicle on Sewell Mill Road in Cobb County is under active investigation by the Cobb County Police Department. The crash occurred near the intersection with Danforth Drive.
A 61-year-old Marietta woman was driving a 2017 Mazda CX-5 westbound on Sewell Mill Road when the collision happened. According to Police, the young boy, also from Marietta, was crossing the road outside a marked crosswalk and entered the path of the Mazda. The driver stopped her car in the westbound lane immediately after the accident.
The child suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital of Atlanta by ground ambulance. As the investigation continues, authorities are seeking information from the public.
