A fatal hit-and-run collision that claimed the life of a pedestrian late Monday night is currently under investigation by the Cobb County Police Department.
The incident occurred on Floyd Road near Maran Lane.
Based on initial findings, the police report that the pedestrian was crossing Floyd Road outside of a marked crosswalk when an unknown vehicle, moving northward on the same road, struck them around 10:29 p.m. on July 31.
Witnesses reported the driver of the unknown vehicle briefly stopped before deciding to flee the scene.
The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into this tragic incident continues as the Cobb County Police Department works to identify and locate the driver of the unknown vehicle. As part of their efforts, they are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact them at 770-499-3987.
