Jefferson (Georgia) five-star linebacker and Clemson Tigers commit Sammy Brown is used to getting lots of attention on the football field.

In a matchup between Jefferson and Oconee County opposing fans decided to troll the nation’s No. 5 overall prospect and No. 1 linebacker with a sign that read, “Shoulda gone to Duke.”

After a 44-7 victory, it was Brown who got the last laugh, posing with the sign following his team’s victory.

Last week, Duke upset then-No. 9 Clemson 28-7, prompting questions about Brown’s commitment.

As for Brown’s commitment, he recently re-affirmed his pledge to Clemson, indicating he believes in the program.

“With that loss comes great opportunity,” Brown told The Clemson Insider. “I know the coaches and leaders in that building will hold everyone accountable. There’s a lot to be fixed but I know that they can do it. There’s a reason I committed to Clemson and it’s because I believe in the coaches and players there right now.”

Clemson’s 2024 recruiting class is ranked No. 15 nationally and consists of 17 pledges.

Brown is the unquestioned headliner – and apparently his football skills come with a sense of humor.
