The Atlanta Braves confirmed Thursday that the team’s public address announcer, Casey Motter, died in his sleep Wednesday night.

Motter has been with the team since 2007 and was the public address announcer at both Turner Field and Truist Park. During his tenure he was dubbed “The Voice of Truist Park.”

According to the Braves, Motter got his start announcing his son’s youth football games in Peachtree City, where he was discovered by former Braves Assistant General Manager Frank Wren, who upon hearing him, invited him to audition for the role.

“Casey was so much more than that booming powerful voice…he was gentle and kind….he was a loving family man…he laughed often and worked hard…he was the best friend you could possibly ask for,” BallparkDJ said in a social media post.
