- All lanes on the I-285 West exit to I-85 in Fulton County are blocked due to flooding near mile marker 60.8. Drivers should avoid the area and use alternate routes.
- Multiple agencies including the Habersham County Sheriff's Office are searching for a man who fled on foot from a Georgia State Patrol traffic stop near Cornelia Friday afternoon. The man, described as 5-foot-5, bald with neck and body tattoos and no shirt, was last seen near Chase Road and Sellers Loop; residents are asked to call 911 if they spot him.
- A Canton man was sentenced to 15 years in prison — 10 to serve — after pleading guilty to homicide by vehicle and DUI in the October 2025 death of cyclist Carlos Moreno Gutierrez, 51, on Sugar Pike Road in Cherokee County. Lane William Keyes, 43, was driving over 90 mph and had a blood alcohol level of .115 nearly four hours after the crash.
- The planned full closure of I-285 in southwest Fulton County between Cascade Road and SR 166/Langford Parkway has been postponed to Sept. 18–21 due to weather.
- All lanes of SR 38 East at Airport Road in Liberty County are blocked due to a crash. Drivers should avoid eastbound travel and use alternate routes; the estimated clear time is 3 p.m.
- Two adults died in an accidental house fire in Lilburn, authorities said. Investigators found no working smoke alarms in the home.
- Kroy Biermann Jr., the 15-year-old son of a former Atlanta Falcon and Real Housewives star, appeared at a Fulton County bond hearing Friday where prosecutors revealed a prior sexual battery case. He was arrested last month in Alpharetta on multiple counts including aggravated sexual battery.
- A clemency hearing is scheduled for Georgia death row inmate Stacey Humphreys ahead of an execution set for next week. Humphreys also has a stay of execution application pending before the U.S. Supreme Court.
- South Broad Street in Rome is closed until further notice due to a heavy police presence at Etowah Terrace, Myrtle Street and South Broad Street, the Rome Police Department said. Drivers should avoid the area and use alternate routes while officers work the scene.
- Newly released body camera and surveillance footage shows Warm Springs Police Sgt. Chris Fisher arresting Jimmy Steverson in the events leading up to Fisher's shooting death, according to investigators.
- All lanes of SR 1 are blocked in both directions in Troup County near mile marker 2.29 due to a crash. Drivers should avoid the area and use alternate routes; the estimated clear time is 11:30 a.m.
- A traffic signal malfunction at GA 400 and Settingdown Road in Forsyth County is causing congestion. Drivers should treat the intersection as a 4-way stop and expect delays or use alternate routes.
- Lane closures are in effect on Washington Road between Evans Walmart and Evans Kroger in Columbia County after a water main break at the intersection of Washington Road and Ronald Reagan Drive/Sir Galahad Drive. Repairs are ongoing; drivers are urged to use alternate routes and allow extra travel time.
