Georgia’s number of confirmed coronavirus cases has hit the 1,000 mark as of noon Tuesday. The state now has a total of 1,026 cases with 32 deaths from the virus.
The new numbers bring the state’s death rate to 3.12%. The largest number of cases continue to be in the 18 to 59 age group. That age group makes up 56% of cases while those 60 and older make up 36%.
A total of 5,484 tests have been processed statewide.
Yesterday, Gov. Brian Kemp ordered all medically fragile residents to shelter in place, banned all gatherings of 10 or more people and closed all bars. However, the governor stopped short of a full lockdown. Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms has ordered all Atlanta residents to stay in their homes.
