Game wardens sprang into action yesterday when two fishermen found themselves stuck on the Oconee River after their boat became entangled in a tree.
What’s Happening: A fisherman contacted Game Warden Erin Paulk Tuesday afternoon after his vessel became trapped on a tree in the Oconee River, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division. The boaters had launched from Central State Boat ramp in Baldwin County and were attempting to reach Balls Ferry Boat Ramp in Wilkinson County when they became stranded.
The Response: Game Wardens Paulk, Wes Freeman, Austin Smith and Kyle Kervin responded to the scene, entering the water to free the vessel from the tree. Wilkinson County EMA, Wilkinson County Fire and Rescue, and the Baldwin County EMA Director also responded to provide additional support if needed.
