TYBEE ISLAND — A local non-profit group, Savannah Supports Ukraine, is sponsoring a collection drive to fill up another container with much-needed supplies for the citizens and soldiers fighting for freedom in Ukraine.

The group is requesting donations of non-perishable food items, first aid supplies, basic hygiene items, camping supplies and warm clothing for men, women, and children.

Acceptable food items include pasta, beans, rice, oatmeal, peanut butter, nuts, dried fruit, protein bars and granola bars.

First aid items needed include Tylenol, cold and flu medication, band-aids, antibacterial ointment, bandages, tourniquets, gauze, and antiseptic wipes.

Basic hygiene items for men, women, and children are also needed, as well as camping supplies such as sleeping bags, blankets, flashlights, batteries, ziplock bags, thermal underwear, warm hats, socks, and gloves.

Donation drop-off locations include the Tybee Island Police Department, Tybee Island Fire Department, Tybee Island Y, the Methodist Church, the Episcopal Church, Cockspur Grill, Tybee Island Marine Science Center, and North Beach Grill.

The end date for the collection drive is Feb. 5.
