MILTON — Residents of the Milton and the general Crabapple area can share their views in upcoming public meetings on a proposed 81-room hotel that, while technically in Alpharetta, is next to Milton’s downtown. The first meeting is Wednesday, July 13.

The boutique hotel is being proposed for 12685 Crabapple Road, a 1.36-acre parcel between Marstrow Road and Broadwell Road that falls within Alpharetta City limits, but is surrounded by Milton. Because of that, the approval and decision-making process runs through the City of Alpharetta. Still, anyone impacted by this proposal — including Milton residents — can ask questions and share their opinions with public officials.

The application for this hotel project can be found at this link: https://www.alpharetta.ga.us/docs/default-source/public-hearings/2022/clup-22-04-cu-22-06-v-22-21-z-22-12-crabapple-hotel/crabapple-hotel-application.pdf?sfvrsn=1e42dcab_4.

The first of three related public meetings at which this matter will be discussed is a virtual community zoning information meeting on Wednesday, July 13, starting at 6 p.m. Residents can attend on Zoom through this link: https://zoom.us/j/6766623657. The meeting ID is 676 662 3657.

No decisions or recommendations will be made at Wednesday’s meeting. The meeting is an opportunity for citizens to ask questions and share their thoughts with Alpharetta City officials.

The next two in-person meetings related to this project will be at Alpharetta City Hall at 2 Park Plaza in downtown Alpharetta.

Alpharetta’s Planning Commission will consider the matter when it convenes at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 4.

After that, the project will go before the Alpharetta City Council during a Monday, Aug. 22, meeting that also begins at 6:30 p.m.

In The Know: While much attention is given to national politics and the workings of Congress and the White House, local government meetings are where the decisions that impact your daily life are made. These meetings are open to the public.

Each week, The Georgia Sun highlights some of the meetings and local government actions you need to know about in your community to keep you informed and to make sure you know what decisions your elected officials are considering and how your tax dollars are being spent.
