A popular Woodstock breakfast spot received a failing health inspection score after inspectors found multiple critical violations including improper food temperatures and sanitation issues.
🔍 What We Know: Maple Street Biscuit Company on Towne Lake Parkway scored a 64 on its March 6 health inspection. The restaurant faced several serious violations, including mold in the ice machine and food being held at unsafe temperatures.
👮 Repeat Offenses: A Cherokee County health inspector documented multiple repeat violations during the routine inspection, including problems with hot and cold food storage that could potentially make customers sick.
🍽️ Unsanitary Dishwashing and Mold: The restaurant’s ice machine contained visible mold buildup, and the dishwasher wasn’t reaching the required 160 degrees needed to properly sanitize dishes. Even more concerning, a dishwasher was observed handling dirty customer dishes and clean dishes without changing gloves or washing hands.
⚠️ Why It Matters: Food held at improper temperatures creates ideal conditions for bacteria growth. Inspectors found sausage at just 103 degrees and breakfast potatoes at 120 degrees – well below the required 135 degrees for hot foods. Cold items in the walk-in cooler also exceeded the safe limit of 41 degrees.
🔄 What’s Next: The restaurant must correct all violations, particularly addressing repeat issues like employee health policies and equipment maintenance. The health department will conduct a follow-up inspection to ensure compliance.
💧 Remember The Golden Rule: If you notice unsanitary conditions at any restaurant, politely bring it to management’s attention. Public feedback helps maintain food safety standards that protect everyone in our community.
