SUWANEE — In the early hours this morning, firefighters from the Gwinnett County Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire in the 4700 block of Cuyahoga Cove in Suwanee.

Firefighters say at about 3:35 a.m., a neighbor called 911 to report that the entire front of a two-story, 9,000 square-foot residence was on fire.

Upon arrival, the firefighters found the house to be fully involved and immediately began deploying defensive hose lines to protect the surrounding houses. Firefighters fought the fire from the front and back of the house with the use of three hose lines and an aerial ladder on each side. Despite the intensity of the fire, firefighters were able to knock down the main body of the fire. However, they will remain on the scene for an extended period to extinguish hotspots.

The homeowners of the residence are out of town according to the private security of the River Club subdivision.
