LAWRENCEVILLE — A house fire that broke out before dawn in Lawrenceville last week has been ruled arson, and investigators are asking the public for help finding whoever set it.
What’s Happening: Firefighters were called to a home on the 700 block of Camp Perrin Road NE at 5:14 a.m. on August 5. Crews arrived eight minutes later to find the house heavily engulfed in flames. The structure partially collapsed while firefighters were working to put out the fire.
What’s Important: Investigators determined the fire was intentionally set. Six adults who lived in the home had already escaped before firefighters arrived. No one was hurt. The American Red Cross helped the six displaced residents after the fire.
By the Numbers: Gwinnett County sent significant resources to the scene, including three engines, two ladder trucks, a squad unit, a medical unit, two command vehicles, an air and light unit, and seven fire investigators.
The Reward: Georgia Arson Control Inc. is offering up to $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of whoever set the fire. The Path Forward: The investigation is ongoing. Without a named suspect, investigators will likely depend heavily on tips from the public and physical evidence recovered from the scene. The $10,000 reward may be a key factor in generating leads.
