That's right—rocks!

Trader Joe’s had a startling announcement for its loyal customer base today, July 21.

The popular grocery chain issued a recall notice on its website earlier today to warn consumers that two of its cookie options were at risk of containing foreign material. Specifically, rocks.

The supplier alerted the company that Trader Joe’s Almond Windmill Cookies, marked by a SKU# of 98744 with a sell-by date of 10/19/23 through 10/21/23, and Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Chunk and Almond Cookies, marked by a SKU# of 82752 with a sell-by date of 10/17/23 through 10/21/23, were affected by the notice.

Any potentially affected products have already been removed from shelves and destroyed. Anyone in possession of potentially affected products is urged to immediately discard them, or return to any Trader Joe’s location for a full refund.

At this time, there’s no information as to how rocks may have gotten into the batches, or how the issue was brought to the supplier’s attention. It’s not mentioned if there were any adverse health effects for any consumers who may have consumed—or attempted to consume—the contaminated treats.

Almost 200 cases of Coca-Cola were recalled earlier this month after Coca-Cola Ultimate was improperly labeled as Coca-Cola Ultimate Zero Sugar, which could negatively impact the health of diabetic consumers and others who are eliminating sugar from their diet for health reasons.

Additionally, over 11,000 pounds of lettuce were recalled after it was discovered they may have been contaminated by deer feces, putting consumers at risk of contracting harmful bacteria like Salmonella, Giardia, and E.coli.
