The sixth annual Back to School Community Block Party is coming to Valdosta on Saturday, August 5. The event will take place at Drexel Park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is open to the entire community free of charge.

Last year, over 700 students and their families enjoyed a day filled with activities, music, food, and fun while also receiving free school supplies. This year, the event aims to provide a positive start to the school year and offer support to parents who may need assistance for their children, according to Anetra Riley, Neighborhood Development and Community Protection Manager.

In addition to the festivities, Wiregrass Georgia Technical College will be offering free haircuts at the Woman’s Building located at 1409 N Patterson Street.

The City Council, City leadership, local community organizations, and sponsors have all played a crucial role in organizing this year’s community block party. Their efforts will continue to make a positive impact on the citizens of Valdosta and the surrounding cities for years to come.
