Walker County residents can attend a public ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The service begins at 8:40 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11, outside the Walker County Courthouse in LaFayette.
Who will take part: Students from LaFayette High School’s JROTC and chorus programs and Ridgeland High School will participate. U.S. Rep. Clay Fuller, Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson, Walker County Fire Chief Blake Hodge and local first responders will also take part.
Remembering first responders: Nearly 400 firefighters, police officers and other first responders died in the attacks. Hundreds more have died from 9/11-related illnesses since then.
If you go: The courthouse is at 103 S. Duke St. Limited seating will be available for those unable to stand, and the ceremony will end at 9:10 a.m.
