Two men face murder charges in the March shooting death of a 19-year-old in unincorporated Snellville, Gwinnett County police said.

What’s Happening: Two 18-year-olds, Glenn Fitzpatrick, of Winder, and Michael Coker, of Loganville, were each charged with felony murder, malice murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Both are being held in the Gwinnett County Jail without bond.

What’s Important: The victim, Taveus Threatt Jr., of Loganville, was found dead inside a vehicle on the 2900 block of Spruce Circle on March 13. A caller told 911 that a car had crashed into his vehicle and the driver was unconscious. Officers arrived to find Threatt dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

What’s Still Unknown: Detectives are still investigating what led to the shooting. No motive has been confirmed, although the charges indicate the killing was intentional.

The Process: Felony murder in Georgia means a person is charged with murder when a death occurs during the commission of another felony, such as aggravated assault. Malice murder means prosecutors allege the killing was intentional. Both charges carry the possibility of life in prison.

The Path Forward: Fitzpatrick and Coker remain jailed without bond while the investigation continues. Anyone with information can contact Gwinnett County Police detectives at 770-513-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477. Anonymous tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward if their information leads to an arrest and indictment.
