A 19-year-old wanted for shooting at school police officers during a DeKalb County high school football game was arrested today in Duluth. His mother was taken into custody at the same time.
What happened: On February 19, 19-year-old Isaiah Reid fired a gun multiple times at DeKalb County School Resource Officers after being ordered to leave a football game at Miller Grove High School. He then fled the scene.
The arrest: Reid was taken into custody without a struggle at an apartment complex on the 4300 block of Satellite Boulevard in Duluth. His mother, Michelle Reid, was arrested at the same location. Prosecutors say she picked Isaiah up from the game after the shooting.
The charges: Isaiah Reid faces multiple serious felony charges, including:
- Aggravated Assault upon a Public Safety Officer
- Terroristic Threats, specifically a death threat
- Multiple counts of Criminal Damage to Property in the First Degree, meaning he is accused of intentionally damaging property
Michelle Reid is charged with Aggravated Assault and Hindering the Apprehension of a Fugitive or Felon.
Where they are now: Both are being held at the DeKalb County Jail with no bond, meaning neither can pay to be released while their cases move through the courts.
The path forward: Both face serious felony charges that carry significant prison time under Georgia law. A judge will need to schedule hearings for each before the cases can move toward trial.
