A man ran from a Georgia State Patrol traffic stop near Cornelia on Friday afternoon and was still being searched for as of Friday evening.
What’s happening: The man was last seen crossing Chase Road near Sellers Loop after fleeing from a location off East Walnut Street near Johnson & Johnson in Cornelia. Officers with tracking dogs were searching the area around Chase Road, Camp Creek Road, and Demorest-Mt. Airy Highway.
What he looks like: The man is about 5-foot-5 and 160 pounds with a bald head and tattoos on his neck and upper body. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and no shirt.
What this means for you: Authorities do not believe the man poses a danger to the public, but residents and drivers in the area are asked not to approach him. If you see him, call 911.
Update: The Georgia State Patrol is taking warrants for the individual involved. Any additional information about him or why he was being stopped by a trooper should be obtained from the Georgia State Patrol.
