CLARKSTON — A Clarkston police officer was hospitalized after a police say a suspect drove towards the officer and hit him with his car early Sunday morning.
According to the GBI, preliminary information indicates that at about 12:30 a.m., Clarkston Police officers responded to a 911 call involving a domestic incident with shots fired at an apartment complex located at 3629 Montreal Creek Circle in Clarkston. Upon arrival, officers encountered 29-year-old Reginald Maurice Gadson in a parking lot.
GBI officials say while police were attempting to make contact with Gadson, he entered a nearby vehicle and sped toward the officers. One officer was struck by the vehicle while a second officer fired at Gadson.
Gadson continued past the officers and left the area. He was later located by police in Stone Mountain uninjured and transported to the DeKalb County Jail.
The officer who was hit by Gadson’s vehicle was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and released with non-life threatening injuries.
The GBI will conduct an independent investigation. Upon completion, it will be turned over to the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office for review.
